Navigating wartime realities: Insights from the ‘Wartime Ukraine and Ukrainians’ Roundtable Workshop in Prague

On 6 December 2023, Charles University in Prague hosted a workshop as part of the REDEMOS research project. The event, titled ‘Wartime Ukraine and Ukrainians: Politics, Migration, and European Integration,’ was organised by the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) in collaboration with the Ukraine in a Changing Europe Research Centre at Charles University.

The workshop, opened by Dr. Valeriya Korablyova, Assistant Professor at Charles University in Prague, Dr. Maryna Rabinovych, Assistant Professor at KSE, and Dr. Tomáš Weiss, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute for International Studies, Charles University in Prague, focused on three overarching themes:

  1. Ukrainian politics and democracy during the war.
  2. Outbound migration of Ukrainians.
  3. Ukraine’s European integration.

Discussions emphasized the challenges of sustaining unity and mobilisation in Ukrainian society during the war and historical parallels with a view to inform present-day policies and strategies.
