The upcoming Public Stakeholders Conference titled “Democracy Promotion in Practice: Insights from the REDEMOS Project and Switzerland’s Experience” will take place from 22 to 24 October 2025 at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. The event, organised by the University of St. Gallen, will bring together researchers, policymakers, and experts in the field to explore democracy promotion in theory and practice.
Promoting democracy is both a constitutional and legal mandate in Switzerland and a key objective in the country’s Foreign Policy Strategy 2024–2027. In view of the war in Europe and growing challenges to democratic institutions and liberal freedoms worldwide, this conference will offer an opportunity to learn from Switzerland’s long-standing experience in democracy promotion. Members of the REDEMOS consortium will further present their manuscripts and share results and insights from their respective projects. The event will therefore take the form of an academic conference, fostering discussion and exchange across the different working packages.
